If the phrase “easy pork noodles” immediately makes you think of stacks of ramen cups, you’re not alone. Microwaveable noodles have gotten a bit of a reputation for being the go-to meal for young adults who are short on time and in need of a filling dish like, ASAP.

The good news is this dish can be incredibly simple and that much more delicious with just a little extra time in the kitchen. Plus, with dozens of different flavor combinations and great-tasting toppings, you and your family can experiment and find your own favorite recipe.

Keep it classic

For those nights getting dinner on the table feels like a challenge, this twenty-minute recipe has got you covered.

You’ll need a pound of ground pork, oil for frying and two packages of your favorite noodles. Any flavor of noodles will work, but if you opt for plain ramen, be sure to add a little extra seasoning along the way. Cook the noodles in boiling water and start browning your pork. From there, flavor your meat with brown sugar and soy sauce to taste. Simmer for five minutes, add your noodles along with some broth and … that’s it!

Top your dish with any ingredients you have on hand. Green onions, peeled carrots and sesame seeds are all some classic toppings that are sure to pair well with this simple yet delicious bowl of noodles.

Not-your-college egg noodles

If your spice cabinet is still a work in progress, this recipe is for you. First, you’ll need your family’s favorite pre-marinated pork loin. We recommend going for a flavor-packed option such as a honey garlic dry rub.

As your pork loin bakes, boil a pot of water and gently lower in two to three eggs. Cook them to your preference and keep them on the side once you’ve finished removing the eggshell and have sliced each into halves. After your tenderloin has had the chance to cool off, cut it into thin pieces and let it continue to sit as you prep the rest of your meal.

Now, it’s time to cook your noodles. Add mushrooms, garlic and ginger as your ramen cooks to add even more flavor to this dish. Once everything is ready, put it all together! Top with peppers, chili flakes and sriracha to kick up the spice a notch.

Play around with your noodles

Pork noodles are a great dish because you can really customize them to your heart’s content. These are truly just two examples of at least a hundred options. As your family tries different variations, don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and play with new flavors and toppings. Just remember: The adventure starts at home!
